Over the last few years, the OAR Leadership has made great strides in getting the Association back on track. We have much broader participation in our committees and our relationships with our neighboring Associations have flourished. Our membership numbers are fast approaching the 800 mark.

There is a great deal more to be done, however. In the last 5 years, technology has, bit by bit, removed many of our non-dues income sources, and with the advent of WINForms® in the dues, Standard Forms sales at the local level will be greatly reduced. On the flip side, members are looking hard at where their money goes and looking to decrease costs at every available opportunity. The dilemma? How do we offer more, with reduced income and greater demand, without raising member dues? There are many, strictly financial possibilities for supplementing our declining coffers. But there is only ONE way to ensure success.

Participation by the membership. Or, as our CAR President, Robert Bailey refers to it; the value of involvement. Volunteerism is the only thing that will keep local associations alive and thriving.

Why should you get involved? Because the local association leadership and committees are instrumental in defining the future of real estate. YOUR future. The local REALTOR® voice is heard through them. Be one of those voices!
